Tuesday April 4th 2006 promises to be an exciting day for our network, and for the field of Learning Development in Higher Education.

The third LDHEN Symposium will be held on that date – and I am pleased to announce that Liverpool Hope University will be our host for the day. In addition, the event will mark the public launch of LearnHigher: the Centre for Excellence in Learning Development*.

Our Keynote Speaker will be Geoff Layer, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Learning & Teaching), Professor of Lifelong Learning and Dean of the School of Lifelong Education and Development at the University of Bradford (see below for more information).

Our theme for the day is: “Excellence in Learning Development  - What Could it Be?” Initial ideas or expressions of interest for workshops or papers are now being sought. Please send ideas and proposals to me in the first instance and these will considered by the LDHEN Steering Group. LearnHigher is proposing to publish papers from the conference.

The cost of the day will be just £60.00 per particpant. To book your place, contact Debbie Bell (BELLD1@hope.ac.uk) as soon as posible – we are liimited to 120 participants. Further details about the event will be available shortly. (Apologies if you receive this message more than once.)
